Zumba FAQ’s

1) What exactly is Zumba?

Zumba is an aerobic exercise program developed by Miami-based professional dancer and choreographer Beto Perez. It is influenced by Latin dancing. Zumba is Spanish slang for "to move fast and have fun"

2) What should I wear to a Zumba class?

Put on comfy clothes suitable for physical exercise that enables freedom of movement and ideally materials which wick the moisture away from the body. Most of all, footwear needs to be comfortable with lots of cushion and lateral support. You might find that running shoes or cross training shoes could have a lot of tread to allow for side-to-side movements. Lesser-tread athletic shoes for instance Puma, Nike, Adidas might be more suitable. We don't advise bare feet or sock-feet for class because of not enough support and safety issues!

3) What Should I Take To A Zumba Class?

A towel and drinking water bottle.

4) Have i got to be in shape to go to Zumba?

No, you don’t need to be fit - you’ll find you'll do what you can do so when you get more fit (which you will if you attend frequently) you’ll be capable of pushing yourself far more. We do recommend nevertheless that if you've got any health conditions or worries, you speak to your health professional for guidance prior to attending.

5) What are the benefits associated with Zumba?

Get ready to sweat! Zumba will get your heart pumping and improve your endurance - you'll have more energy and burn fat. The moves will work your core (abs, back and hips) to strengthen and define them. Besides the physical benefits, Zumba is a "feel good" workout, not a dreaded chore - the music is motivating and fun, you'll leave happy!

6) What happens if I Don’t Have Any Rhythm and can’t Dance?

You don’t need to be able to dance to take part in a Zumba Class. The dance steps are basic steps and so are simple to understand. As an instructor, I start slowly and then pick up the pace as the class catches on to the steps. As long as you are moving and having a good time, you are doing well!

7) Is Zumba good for weight-loss?

Zumba seems to be an ideal health and fitness choice, combining cardio periods with resistance training. Many experts feel that an interval/resistance mixture maximises caloric output, fat burning, and total body toning. Zumba mixes effective body sculpting motions with easy-to-follow, fun dance steps. People often forget about exercising throughout a Zumba session, letting them exercise longer, and burn even more calories.
